El pasado 2 de mayo, los príncipes de Gales compartieron con sus seguidores en las redes sociales una nueva fotografía de su hija mediana, la princesa Charlotte, que ese día cumplía 10 años.

El retrato fue realizado por la propia Kate Middleton con su móvil durante una excursión al condado de Cumbria, en la frontera con Escocia, que el heredero al trono y su familia realizaron a principios de este año.
En la imagen, una Charlotte preadolescente posa sonriente mostrando que cada vez se parece más a su padre y luce una chaqueta transpirable impermeable que se agotó en cuanto se publicó la foto.

El futuro de la princesa Charlotte en la familia real
Aunque aún es pronto para definir su futuro institucional se espera que la princesa Charlotte se convierta en princesa real, título reservado tradicionalmente a la hija mayor del soberano. Actualmente lo ostenta la princesa Ana, hermana de Carlos III. No es automático ni hereditario, por lo que dependerá de la voluntad del futuro rey Guillermo.
Además, ha sonado con fuerza la opción de que Charlotte reciba en el futuro el título de duquesa de Edimburgo, un gesto que marcaría un nuevo rumbo para la Casa Real británica en línea con los deseos expresados por Carlos III.
